BYD Atto 2 India is gearing up for something new, as the Atto 2 has been seen undergoing road tests, hinting that its official launch might not be far off. This compact SUV, which made its first appearance at the Brussels Motor Show earlier this year, is already making waves in Europe and other international markets. The Atto 2 is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 and features the brand’s innovative Blade Battery technology along with CTB (Cell-to-Body) construction.
By integrating the lithium iron phosphate battery directly into the vehicle’s frame, BYD has managed to boost the car’s structural strength and free up more space inside, all while avoiding the use of cobalt and nickel. Measuring 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, the Atto 2 is noticeably smaller than the Atto 3, with a reduction of 145 mm in length and 45 mm in width.
The SUV’s 2,620 mm wheelbase supports its upright design, sharp lines, and distinctive lighting at both the front and rear. Inside, the cabin is designed with clean lines, geometric shapes, and a minimalist approach to decoration. The centrepiece is a 12.3-inch vertical touchscreen that handles media and vehicle controls, and it comes equipped with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Physical buttons for climate control and volume are still present, and a rotary gear selector sits on the centre console. Powering the Atto 2 is a front-mounted motor producing 130 kW, paired with a 45.1 kWh Blade battery. This setup offers a WLTP-certified range of 312 km in its standard version. BYD has plans to introduce a longer-range variant for global markets, but details on its specs and pricing are yet to be revealed.
On the safety front, the Atto 2 is well-equipped with a surround-view camera system, multiple airbags, and a comprehensive suite of active driver assistance features. The SUV is available in several eye-catching colours, including a matte Climbing Grey, Hiking Green, Cosmos Black, and Skiing White. For reference, the Atto 3 is currently priced in India from Rs. 24.99 lakh to Rs. 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
If BYD brings the Atto 2 to India, it’s likely to compete in the midsize electric SUV segment. This would put it up against upcoming models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV, which also made its debut at the Brussels show.
