Angela and Charles Oakley “Argued Every Day” After Her First RHOA Season — But He’s Still in Her Corner

Argued Every Day: Angela Oakley says her first year on The Real Housewives of Atlanta came with a steep learning curve at home. The newcomer shared that husband Charles Oakley, the former NBA All-Star, struggled to make sense of Housewives-level drama as season 16 unfolded.

“We were bickering pretty much every day,” Angela, 44, joked while chatting with Us Weekly at BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas.

When asked if Charles, 61, had doubts about signing on for another season, Angela didn’t hesitate: “Absolutely.” She recalled her husband wondering why she didn’t clap back sooner and why she’d still want to be friends with someone who stirred the pot. Angela’s response? That’s how this friend group works.

“I kept telling him, in this circle, friendships bounce back fast. You have to move on,” she said. “He had his reservations about returning, but he supports me and shows up for me—so he’s along for the ride.”

It’s not hard to see why Charles had questions. Season 16’s tensions ran straight through to the reunion, taped in June, which both Brittney “Brit” Eady and Kenya Moore skipped. At the time, Kenya, 54, posted on X that she accepted responsibility for her actions and apologized to Brittney, the cast, crew, guests, and viewers, adding that she hoped to be back on Bravo soon.

Earlier in the season, an April 6 episode centered on Kenya displaying explicit images she suggested were of Brit, 37. Brit later clarified on Instagram the woman in those photos was not her. After an internal review, Bravo decided Kenya would not continue filming with the cast for the remainder of the season. Kenya later claimed on YouTube that she was invited and then uninvited to the reunion; a Bravo spokesperson told Us that account was not accurate.

Looking ahead to season 17, RHOA vets Phaedra Parks and Cynthia Bailey made it clear they’re coming in hot. “We’re coming for everybody,” Cynthia, 58, told Us, while Phaedra, 52, added that they’re “back” and ready to shake things up.

Phaedra also teased “new peaches” joining the fold—fresh faces she described as very different from what fans have seen before. “It adds spice to the gumbo,” she said, noting that the OGs still keep the show anchored.

Cynthia hinted that the new season blends old-school Atlanta with new energy—and the trips will deliver. As usual, the cast will take both a domestic and an international getaway, and Cynthia teased that you’re looking at one of the hostesses. She wouldn’t spoil who led which trip, but promised they were a blast because, well, the trips matter.

Bravo has not announced a premiere date for season 17.
